Summer 1

This half term Eagle class have been exploring our topic of 'Australia'. We have listened to the national anthem and explored the globe to see where Australia is and how far it is from where we live. We started our Creative Curriculum lessons by exploring the Great Barrier Reef then moved onto Ayers Rock, Australian animals, Didgeridoos and Sydney Opera House. See below for images of what we got up too.

Lots of images, symbols and Makaton were also used to support further understanding and encourage communication.

Our themed text has been 'Australia' covering the unit of 'Explanation texts'. Follow up activities from the text have been matching objects to pictures, making choices and showing preferences, mark making, tracing lines and patterns, beginning to copy some letters and matching  objects from the text. We have also followed instructions to make Australian Lamington Cake and Australian Anzac biscuits.

In Maths we have focused on Number, Capacity, Position and Direction, Shape and Sorting.

We have also had our Parent session where parents were invited to come into our PE lesson. This was lovely to show what we do and how much progress our children have made. See pictures below...

In Science we have explored weather types and shadows. See pictures below...
