Health Issues & Medication

Health Issues

Infections and common ailments such as diarrhoea and vomiting can spread quickly though any school and can affect some of our dependant children very quickly, sometimes with serious consequences. At White Ash we follow the Department of Health guidelines that advise all staff and pupils not to come back to school until they have been free from sickness or diarrhoea for a full 48 hours.

Medication

If your child requires medication in school, all staff are medication trained and can administer medication during school hours.  All medication must be sent into school in the box provided by the pharmacy and both the box and the container must be labelled with a prescription sticker by the pharmacy (the patient leaflet must also be enclosed). All medicine must have a completed medicine chart which can be provided by school or click on link below to fill and print from home. Without this chart correctly completed staff will not be able to administer the medication. If medication is required 3 or 4 times per day we can only administer this once during school hours, the rest must be administered at home.
