Summer 1

Eagle class have been learning and exploring all about Great Britain. We have listened to and learnt the national anthem 'God save the King'. We have looked at the Great British flag and created artwork using red, white and blue. Then we started to learn about King Charles II, we collaged an outline of his face and used our handprints and paint to make a crown for the king. Then we started to explore Great British culture- focusing on afternoon tea and the Great British seaside/coast. We have really enjoyed this topic learning about something new each week.

Our English text has been 'The Queen's Knickers'. We have enjoyed this text using our imagination to imagine the queen or king losing their knickers then the police trying to find them. Pupils have answered simple questions about the text, looked at what happens at the beginning, middle and end, identified items e.g. queen, knickers, king, crown when asked and traced over and copied letters.

Our educational visit was to 'Knowsley Safari Park' to explore and see a variety of animals in different habitats. We loved seeing the lions so close up and watching the sealion show. See pictures below...

'Splatting' with red and blue paint onto white paper to create our Great Britain artwork.

Great British Afternoon Tea- we made our own jam sandwiches and then tasted cups of tea, scones and victoria sponge cake!
