Joanna themed each week differently, allowed pupils to create short sequences to learn, gave them changes to explore their own movements to the music and gain a love for dance.

Bikeability - February 2024

Throughout the school week over 4 sessions our Y5 & Y6 pupils attended daily bike ability sessions focusing on basic bike skills, as well as working towards a Level 1 Bike Ability awards. These skills link to their physical development, learning outside the classroom and life skills. At the end of the week the pupils are given an award certificate and badge for their effort.

Bendrigg Residential - March 2024

On Monday 4th March, some of our Year 5 and 6 children enjoyed a residential trip to The Bendrigg Trust near Kendal.  They stayed for 2 night and 3 days to take part in a variety of outdoor adventure activities.
We left school on Monday morning and arrived just in time for lunch.  After a quick bite to eat we were split into two groups to try our hand at indoor rock climbing and indoor caving.  The children were all very brave and had a go at both activities with enthusiasm.  After some more delicious food for tea, we headed out to take part in a night archery session.
On Tuesday we all woke up early as we had a busy day ahead.  Today’s activities were canoeing on Killingworth Reservoir and Ziplining/Swing chair.  Both activities proved extremely popular with all of the children and they had a blast.  After such a tiring day, Tuesday night’s activity was a welcome chill around the campfire, toasting marshmallows and sharing our favourite moments of the trip.
After another early (ish) night and a good night’s sleep we were up on Wednesday morning for breakfast, packing and a quick trip to the shop for some last minute souvenirs before the journey back to school.
Overall, it was a fantastic few days and an amazing experience for our children and staff.  Well done and thank you everyone.
