Knowsley Safari Park - this educational visit was linked to our previous big question 'Who made these footprints?' The children enjoyed a day at the safari park looking at all the different animals and their habitats. They listened to the different animals sounds and looked for any baby animals.
Physical skills - this half term the children have worked hard to continue their development of gross motor skills. The children have been busy moving around their environment in different ways, running skilfully and avoiding obstacles. They have also directed balls at targets using various methods such as rolling, kicking and throwing.
The new changes of spring have enabled the children to explore lots of different colours, animals and new life including planting seeds and watching them grow. Linking to our sensory story 'The very hungry caterpillar', the children have investigated natural phenomena such as different mini beats and life cycles of butterflies.
Marvellous mark making - all of the children have had lots of fun making marks in different ways. They have used a range of resources to splat, print and swipe, including brushes to paint.
Towneley park - some of our children spent the morning at a local park. They enjoyed a walk through the woodlands looking at seasonal changes and then went to the park. The children played on the apparatus with confidence, meeting their sensory processing needs and having lots of fun. They worked together to explore and work the water pump and took turns on the slides and swings.
Over the school year we have encountered many different cultures and celebrations. To celebrate Easter, the children took part in outdoor activities including an egg hunt, egg rolling and making Easter mud nests in the mud kitchen. They also explored the shape of the cross and matched pictures linking to Easter e.g. Jesus, cross and chocolate.
