Our topic this half term has been dinosaurs. Puffin class have been exploring lots of different kinds of dinosaurs and fossils. We've transformed our tuff tray into the Jurassic period and become archaeologists, digging up fossils and learning different dinosaurs names. The Puffins have enjoyed designing their own dinosaurs too.
This term as part of our outdoor learning we got to enjoy a session out canoeing, we had so much fun rowing up and down the canal!
We've had some more special visitors in Puffin class this spring! The farm gave us 9 eggs and it was our responsibility to look after them! It was so fun watching them slowly hatch until we had 9 fluffy chicks! We learnt about the life cycle of chickens and helped clean out the cage and make sure they were fed. Some of us even tried holding them!
Eid Mubarak! In class we celebrated by making our own mud henna! We looked at some pictures of intricate henna designs and had a go ourselves. We then decorated the sun and crescent moon symbol on the track with different materials we could find. In the afternoon we had a big party with the rest of KS2 and danced together! It was so much fun!
In Maths and English we've been very busy! Our favourite moments were opening up a snack shop for Easter and writing letters to the dinosaur character in our class story. We practised using punctuation such as question marks to ask him questions about his life and what he likes. In our shop we took turns to be shopkeeper and customers, using coins to make up the correct amounts for what we wanted.
Some of our class also went on the Y6 residential to Bendrigg. We had a wonderful time doing a range of activities from tube sliding, orienteering, caving and climbing as well as making use of their sensory swing and light room. It was a busy few days and we loved every minute! Well done Puffins!
