This term we have enjoyed listening to poems and exploring our local environment. The children have been developing their phonics skills by completing rhyming strings and practising rhyming CVC words, which has been lots of fun.
We have also enjoyed using role play within our café area, supporting communication, imagination, and early literacy skills.
During outdoor learning, we have been finding and reading different words linked to our phonic phases. The children loved using the mud kitchen to create their own “phonic soups” and cakes, using words as ingredients to help them practise pronunciation and build confidence.
In Science, we have been exploring the topic of sound. The children listened to a range of different sounds and enjoyed making and playing their own musical instruments. This has been a very engaging and enjoyable topic.
In Maths, we have been recapping number recognition and practising rote counting. We have checked our shape recognition, explored addition and subtraction, and enjoyed learning about fractions by sharing our favourite food, pizza!
