Autumn 2

Autumn 2 - Kings and Queens

This term our topic has been Castles, Kings and Queens, and what a fun and busy term it has been! We’ve enjoyed lots of exciting activities to get us into the Christmas spirit.

English

Our focus book this term was In the Castle. The children loved learning all about castles, their different parts, their purpose, and who lived there. Next time you visit a castle, see if your child can spot the drawbridge, towers and turrets! We even made our own castles and puppets, and proudly shared what we had learned in assembly.

Science

In Science, we explored states of matter. We froze liquids to make solid ice and, like real scientists, used our curiosity to think of different ways to melt the ice. It was a fantastic hands-on experience!

Maths

In Maths, we have been working on subtraction, money, weight and statistics. Subtraction can be a tricky concept, but we used rhymes and lots of props to help us understand. As the year goes on, we’ll keep revisiting these ideas to get even better!

We also practised using money by paying for our snacks in class, with very cheap prices like 1p and 2p! This has been a great way to make learning practical and fun.
