Eagle class have been learning all about 'Celebrations'. We have focused on a different celebration each week such as Halloween, Remembrance Day, Diwali, Bonfire Night and Christmas. We have used our senses to full immerse ourselves into the chosen celebration, by listening to music and watching videos etc. Lots of images, symbols and Makaton were also used to support further understanding and encourage communication. We have created lots of art work to explore each celebration and make representations of them.
Our texts have been 'Room on a Broom' and 'Stick man at Christmas'- focusing on the unit, 'stories from the same author'.
We have enjoyed reading and listening to this story each week. We have used lots of resources and props alongside the story to explore each part of the story. Activities relating to our story have been- matching objects from the text to a picture, matching picture to picture, identifying characters and beginning to trace over letters.
In Science we have been exploring habitats. We started by exploring the woods as a habitat and looked at insects that might live there. We then moved onto learning about one habitat each week- the rainforest, the arctic, the ocean etc.
In PE we have been focusing on Gymnastics. We have been learning how to move our bodies in different ways and how to make new shapes with our bodies.
See pictures below of what we have been up too..
