Autumn 1 - Explorers and Inventors
Our topic this half term was 'Explorers and Adventurers, and the children had an exciting time discovering the incredible people who changed the world! We learned about The Wright Brothers, who invented the aeroplane, and Christopher Columbus, who explored new lands.
Outdoor Learning
We brought history to life outdoors! The children created routes from Spain to Cuba to replicate Christopher Columbus’s journey and went on a treasure hunt to find items such as parrots and other tropical treasures. We even built a ship outside and designed a sail, turning our playground into the high seas!
Science & Design Technology
In Design Technology, the children built their own aeroplanes and created colourful flags to represent different countries. This hands-on learning helped them understand how design and engineering shape exploration.
English
Our story focus was Stick Man, which inspired us to think about adventures and journeys, just like Christopher Columbus. The children loved exploring the theme of adventure through storytelling and creative activities.
