Autumn 1

Eagle class have been learning all about 'Houses and Homes'. We have explored different types of houses that we might see and even houses around the world e.g. igloos or castles. Each week we used our senses to explore and aid our learning, we have explored bricks, straw and sticks when looking at the 3 little pigs story and have explored items that you might find in a household e.g. phone, toilet, cups and plates etc. We have created artwork based upon different types of houses and developed our techniques using different tools.

Lots of images, symbols and Makaton were also used to support further understanding and encourage communication.

Our text has been 'The three little pigs', we have enjoyed reading and listening to this story each week. We have used lots of resources and props alongside the story to explore each part of the story. Activities relating to our story have been- matching objects from the text to a picture, matching picture to picture, identifying characters and beginning to trace over letters.

In Science we have been exploring materials and what items are made of. We have focused on wood, plastic and metal exploring one each week. We have also explored what the word 'waterproof' means and created a picture using a wax-resist technique.

In PE we have been developing our Fundamental Movement Skills. We have participated within warm up activities to develop our running, hopping and jumping skills. Then practised our balance skills when using the benches and boxes to move up and down equipment.

We had a whole-school well-being day 22nd October 2025. This was Halloween/Autumn themed and lots of fun activities took place throughout the day such as, a halloween hunt outdoors, halloween attention autism sessions, halloween story sessions and halloween art activities.

See pictures below of what we have been up too..
